This Saturday March 5, 2022 we join our friends and colleagues around the world in celebrating Open Data Day. We put together this dashboard with links challenges that aim to learn about and support compelling projects of non-invasive, non-judgemental and non-political action - with the goal to apply open data as part of the solution to rebuilding cultural and economic ties after conflict and forced displacement. We intend to gather topics and challenges from around our community, and organize a meeting in the near future, along the same lines as past workshops published on our home page - more details on this soon.

🌍 CALL 🌎 FOR 🌏 CHALLENGES 🌕

/

Let us connect the dots - across open data, digital society, open source and dev ops community - support effective initiatives and their efforts to Send Help, Find Shelter and provide Legal Support for all those affected by conflict. Let us welcome and reach out to people - all people - who need extra support, and for whatever reason are not yet able to get this in the offical channels. Let us help those displaced in a tolerant, apolitical, respectful and consequential way. Let us invest our time into community and cyber-infrastructure resilience, as we have been doing in the past, and as we must for the times to come.

Nota Bene

As a member of the European digital society, concerned about conflict recently flaring up close to home - you may be wondering if and how you can play a role. Some of us are being driven towards engaging in hostile actions, using the Internet as a battleground. Others make more subtle efforts, trying to work their social connections, or sending money and support to organizations they feel to be in need. The most important thing is not to panic, choose your sources carefully, stick to verifiable data and facts. This is not the time to be silent. This is not the time to try to crawl out of our skins to desperately "fix things". Things have been very broken for a long time. If now is the moment when we can open our minds, if we can finally find the courage to help the needy, then let us DO IT NOW.
