An open-source DMS (data management system) for powering data hubs and data portals

CKAN is the world leading Open Source data portal platform. It has a powerful data management system that makes data accessible – by providing tools to streamline publishing, sharing, finding and using data. The official Swiss Open Government Data portal, opendata.swiss is one of the many portals based on this platform.

CKAN provides an extensive API for the metadata of the open data catalogue. The API provides powerful functionality for developers to build on, and makes it possible for you to try searching for datasets from portals like opendata.swiss inside of mobile apps like the Open Data Companion - or even right here on this page:
